You're definately going to need a lawyer. While a 'working dog' is given leeway, the fact the dog wasn't on your property and was injured does not look good. Roaming dog packs cause problems in many places (we've had cows killed by them), so that's a point against you. Yours was on the road, which means it could have been hit, and a dead dog isn't good for anyone. The injury isn't good either. Makes it look like you might have done it. The fleas are a minor thing, ignore that part. If you have an independent vet (from a different city) evaluate your other dogs and do a report for you, that'll go a long way. Farm dogs, hunting dogs, they're not house pets and the judge usually would realize this. If you have any medical files on the dog, get copies of those made now. That's proof you were taking care of it regularly. You'll need to google 'texas animal laws' (there's a lot online) and also Texas animal lawyer to find what you need.

It means the trial court does not need to take any further action on the matter. Usually that is entered after the case is dismissed, a verdict is entered or the case is on appeal. Either way it means that it is off the trial judge's list of active, pending cases.

Closed Case means, it is finished, over. But some cases can be re-opened.

It is done, and can never be brought up again, unless on appeal!
