You can get her arrested for harrasment.
You can also block her e-mail adress.

Not sure if there is anything you can do legally but why not set up a filter in your email program to automatically put her emails in the trash?

If you can't do that, just delete them and inform her you no longer read her emails due to the abusive nature of them.

You could also report her to her ISP but you may make matters worse if you try to take any legal action against her.

Probably best bet is to not read them and let her know they're not being read.

Also ... what does your husband have to say about this? After all this is HIS mother and he should really be the one doing something about this.

Save every email. The only thing you can do at this time is to get her for harassment and defamation of character. Blocking the email doesn't give you anything to take to court should the need arise. Let her send the emails, but NEVER reply to them. Let her continue to make a butthole out of herself, just don't fall into it with her.

On my email program I have the ablility to send email from specific sender right to the deleted folder without going into the inbox. Have you tried that. If not, there is a key on your computer labled "Del". Don't open the email just delete it.

Not unless she makes threats.

She can express herself if she wants. It's difficult to prove harrassment in email otherwise - spammers send millions of annoying emails and get away with it.

If she makes threats of some kind, go to the police.

Unfortunately, no. Keep all the emails just in case you are able to use them one day.
My ex was harrassing me via email, phone, following me around and sleeping in my driveway. I finally got an order of protection when he threatened to kill me and my family.

Save the emails, print them, take printed emails to local police department, and continue to document all behaviour. Most importantly, do not respond or retaliate. She will hang herself.

Technically no. She really hasn't done anything wrong aside from childish name calling. You can't really do anything until she actually does harm to you.

Not really. Not until it actually damages you in a quantifiable manner, that is. I suggest instead that you have your Internet Service Provider block her e-mail address. Don't pick up the phone when she calls, etc.

Let your husband handle it .(Restraining order, or threat of it?) You can't win, even if you do .(Thinking of children, now or later, & other relatives) .
