Lately my phonleline has been busy even with no one on it. No one can call the house, and when you pick up the phone it just says 'line in use' and is staticy. We've got brand new phoneline, and everything seems to be connected properly. It's almost making the internet d/c randomly on and off. I have DSL, and I do have one of the little white DSL boxes that you hook the phoneline/internet cord into to seperate them. Any idea?

Just a little work should determine whether it is your line or your phones. First, if you are in a house, there will be a "demark" box outside. This is where the phone line enters. Go to that box and take a phone. Unplug the plug that goes into the house. Connect the phone. IF everything works there you have an internal issue. If it still has the same problem call the phone company.

Yes with DSL you should install the filters that were sent to you. If you have an alarm it can cause this also! Particularly with DSL so you may have to contact the alarm company they will have to add a filter to the alarm.

Double check the cable. Unplug the secure that it is properly plug-in. Make sure the cable is plunged on its proper socket.
Or maybe the there is an open wire and was disconnected from the post. Try to contact your operator regarding this problem. Maybe they can fix it.

You need one filter in every socket with a phone, fax, modem or answering machine attached, not just the dsl modem.
