Hi,
This is the worst time of year to visit San Francisco as far as the weather. Mark Twain said it best, "My worst winter day was a summer day in San Francisco". He is not far off. bring long pants, sweaters, sweat-shirts, any thing like this to keep you warm. A pair of gloves will help out as well. If you visit the GG Bridge or Fisherman's Wharf yo9u will freeze your butt off. Our best weather is last August, September, and October. We have an Indian Summer that is the best.
A hint on things to see, the GG Bridge for sure, the Wharf area is a must. Ride the Powell street Cable Car and get off at the Fraimont Hotel, check out the Tonga Room, it rains in here on schedule. Next ride the outside glass elevator at the Fairmont you'll see a lot of the City. Try and catch a bus to the top of Lombard street and walk down the crookedest street in the world, even better if you have a car drive it. Make sure you visit Coit Tower and ride to the top you'll see the City from another high view point. You have to see North Beach and Chinatown. If you drive take a ride to Twin Peaks and then through Golden Gate Park.
Enjoy

Even within the city, the temperatures can vary almost as much as 20 deg F. For example, it is not uncommon for the Pacific Ocean beach area to be in the high 50's while inland, around the financial district (Montgomery), it will be nudging 70. This results from the so-called marine layer that brings in cool air off the ocean.

The smart thing to do is what most SF natives do...be layered. You can always take off or add a jacket and/or sweater depending on the current temperature where you are in the city.

And, as one answer put it, avoid shorts...you'll look like a tourist. One of the amusing sights is to see a person walking around in shorts and a T-shirt while the city temperature is in the 50's. These are poorly informed tourists who believe that all of California is subtropical, like Florida. So they bring hot weather clothes, much to their chagrin.

The likelihood of rain is minimal. That "rain" one person suggested was really more like a heavy mist rather than a real rain. The weather guys didn't even have a measurement of how much fell that evening. So, unless you are the wicked witch of the East and will melt under water, don't worry about a bit of mist.

Here on the coast 63 to 72 degrees is a warm day. Dress in layers and bring a light jacket, sweater, with pants no shorter than cropped length above ankle, otherwise you can get very cold.. Even though you might get lucky and hit warm fog free sunny days, weather can turn cold as soon as early afternoon, especially if wind kicks up.

I live in San Francisco and it's been warm this past week. Yesterday was a little bit of showers. But it's gonna be nice this weekend in San Francisco. Bring a jacket andlong sleeves as it gets windy here at night.

The Weather has been cooler than the rest of the country. Highs have been 65 or greater with 70 to 75 popping up occasionally. You are looking at sunny to partly cloudy and no rain is fore-casted. So... Standard casual dress with some layering to allow you to enjoy the warmer weather and still remain comfortable when the temp drops. Its a good time of year in SF. While the rest of the country is sweltering. San Fransisco is really COOL.

Although it's July right now, SF is known to have microclimates, and the fog will roll right in and become very cold. Avoid shorts, layer up, so you can take off sweaters when you're hot. I would check the weather beforehand to know exactly what the weather is like. I would say right now, SF is probalby upper 60s to low 70s. But the fog makes it really cold sometimes.

Dress in layers. Tank top, t-shirt, short-sleeved over-shirt and sweater. The weather varies throughout the day but expect high to 67 degrees and low at 57 degrees.
