I would ask him why he called me that. If he said it was nothing, i would believe him. a relationship is based on trust and honesty.

If it was a one time thing, so what? I call people by the wrong name sometimes. Not because I don't know their name or am daydreaming about the person whose name I just called them, but because it simply came out. IF, however, it was in the throws of passion or something...that might be different. That would make me wonder where the heck his mind was while he was suppose to be concentrating on US!! So I guess it all depends. 1) How often does it happen? 2) Whose name is he calling you by? 3) When/Where has it occurred? For the most part, I would shrug it off. Annoying it is, but not divorce court material.

Just always call whoever you're dating, "honey" or "sweetie" and then you won't even have to remember their name!!! = )

I take it that you did this to your girlfriend? It's a reasonable mistake if you've been dating her for only a short while. What's important is whose name did you call her? If it was your ex's name, you might be in trouble. If it was your sister's name, well, that's not a big deal (unless you scream it out while making love). It's the circumstances that dictate how much trouble, if any, that you're in. I mix my two kids's names up all the time because they start with the same letter. My mom did that to me. She always tried to call me by my aunt's name. It's not always insulting.

My husband and I have both done that to each other I called him by my ex husbands name, I was married to the guy for 14 yrs it kinda just slipped out and not because I like him cause I cant stand my ex. But we both just laugh it off. It should be understandable.

I would so pick on him by saying "What's the matter? Can't keep your women straight?" Then I would tease him mericilessly for the rest of the day like calling him random names like Rudabega, so hopefully he'll never do it again. He can look at the menu, but he has to come home for dinner ;)

That's actually happened to me. The first time I stopped what I was doing, put my hands on my hips and said, "Excuse me?" The second time, I responded by calling him by an ex-boyfriend's name. I don't remember it happening again!

He has, he called me my sister in laws name.

He felt sooo bad and I laughed at him for ages and teased him about thinking about her instead of me.

But my mum calls me my two brothers names (even though i'm a female) all the time. So i'm used to it.

And my bf's never done it again, and it wasn't during sex, so it wasn't too bad.
