but there has been somewhere between 3000 and 4000 troops killed in the war. will that many peaple be killed in attacks if we do withdraw our troops now? sounds kind of fishy to me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again if we withdraw before the job is done then the 3000+ troops that have died will have died for no reason at all. These terrorists have gotten away with this crap for too long. We finally have begun to push back and can't afford to stop now.
If we don't fight back we still die the only thing not fighting does is insure a really low terrorist body count when they attack us. We need to show them that their actions will cause a reaction that is to high for them to continue to pay. sure young American men and women are going to die but I for one know that I would gladly lay down my life overseas if it meant that my Mom and Sister would be less likely to have a building they're in or a bus they are riding blow up and kill them while they were just going about their day to day lives.

The number of troops killed in this War is the lowest ratio of troops killed to troops deployed ever recorded in a war period. Our troops are doing a remarkable job of surviving this war. 3000 deaths in 4 years is low low low but still tragic tragic tragic. My personal opinion as the father of an Army son is that we have had to few troops there and have failed to act aggresively enough to stop not only those who are shooting but those who are aiding /hiding/ and/or to chicken to tell us where they are hiding at. The key to winning a war is the use of overwhleming force. So far we have not been willing to use overwhelming forcre. It is not surprising that Bush's ratings are in the toliet- he hasn't been succesful in doing what we should be doing, wiping out those who are causing the issue to start with.

I suppose you are asking "If we withdraw our troops and IF we are attacked here, won't less people be killed in the attack here than if we leave our troops there and they keep dying?" In other words "Are we not killing more people in the long run by being in Iraq than by bringing the troops home and letting terroist fight us here."

No.

Would you make the same argument about WWII. After all if we had chosen to stay home and not fight Germany( they never attacked us in the states and did not start it by bombing us etc !) then fewer people might have had to die.
Does this mean that we should not have challenged the evil Hitler and his Regime represented?

Consider:
1. These terrorists are commited to wiping the US off the face of the earth and installing an Islamic state where women and non muslims have no rights and are free to be treated like abused dogs and property. We do have choice as to where to fight them. I would rather we fight this war in their neighboorhood than ours. No matter what we do- leave, stay move or quit- they are going to be shooting/bombing and maiming us.Tehy believe that ALLAH commands them to do so.
2 No matter where we fight them, thousands will die. In Iraq many are dying who are not troops because the terrorists deliberatly use non involved humans as sheilds and pawns in war and causing internal fighting as well. When they come here we will be the ones being used as fodder for killing. Just look at Isreal.. are you sure you want to live in constant fear?
3. They killed 3000 people here in one day in 2001 and it took 4 years to kill 3000 there. Seems like the odds are better for us there.
4. Those who are serving in the military volunteered to be there fighting. They knew death was a risk in the service. Better to have 3000 killed who signed up knowing they may be killed than 3000+ killed who did not commit to serve.
5. It is morally right to defend oneself, ones family, ones friends and allies against not only those who actually attack you but also aggresivly threaten you by brandishing arms and saying they are coming for you. Someone standing on my porch says they have a gun and they are going to kill my kids or neighbors you can bet your cash that I will shoot them first ( yes i know there were no WMD found but Saddam kept threatening to use them -He had used them before and had 6 months notice that we were coming- anyone honestly think they couldn't ship them off somewhere in 6 months time?- I could just using my scion xb in 6 months)
6. Sometimes one must do the right thing no matter the costs. Yes I know that we went there to fight - but we did in WWII as well. Evil ( and this extremisim/terroroism is evil just like anything, or any religoun can be turned int to evil) left unchallenged will harm millions.

So my answer is these folks are commited to killing us no matter what. The world they envison is not one I want to live in . No rights , no democracy, no freedom of religon, death for petty crimes, death for not believing as they belive, is not for me! If they want to fight then lets send those who volunteered to fight over to their house to fight. Better there than here.

May God bless us all whether here or there. The Iraqis are not bad people -rather they are like a beat down animal-after centuries of oppression they are just learning how to stand up against the bullies who have run their world.
