I saw Chertoff on TV again today and a story about how easy it is to obtain the materials necessary to build such a bomb. They are still "unofficially" worried about these types of bombs being used on chidren because of a "long lifetime of pain and suffering" that will last throughout the childrens lives.

Yes they are. I think it will happen shortly after the start of this upcoming school year. It will certainly be tragicly interesting to see it unfold.

They are very easy to make and would really disrupt our way of life by killing our future leaders.

I'm sorry that I didn't read the answers to this question before I put my 'two cents worth' in. A Dirty bomb killed almost as many 'soviets', at Chernobyl, as the 'clean bomb', we used two of, on Japan at the end of WWll, and Chernobyl was not even a bomb. I made six patrols aboard a nuclear submarine, while maintaining Polaris missiles.
Don't let any fool tell you to "not worry", about a dirty bomb!

Actually "dirty" bombs arent as big a threat as the public thinks. Most radiactive materials will do very little harm to people unless actually inhaled or ingested. The problem is more of a matter of the fear produced.

No. President Bush has SEALED the borders. The only way they can get in is if we withdraw and Terrorists FOLLOW the troops home! They don't know where we live.

I'd be much more worried about things like school shootings and the much more common assaults that take place at schools than something like that.

Chertoff for some reason is trying to stir up fear. him and his gut telling us were in for another attack. I would like more info besides his intestinal tract. Please be aware but don't feed into the fear.
