I used to have the same problem! Chores need to be done, but they sure aren't fun and aren't how I'd want to spend my summer. Also, doing the same old, same old can get boring. What I recommend is learning a new hobby such as pottery, crocheting, making friendship bracelets or scented candles, scrapbooking, or quilting through renting books from your library or taking a local class in the community. Also, find a good fiction or mystery book or find topics which interest you (your librarian can make some suggestions) and read for fun! Take up a new sport such as inline skating, soccer, baseball, horseback riding, basketball volleyball, or tennis at you local gym or community center. Volunteer at a local community organization, such as a homeless shelter, humane society, hospital, nursing home, or childcare center. Or get involved and join a hobby club, scouting group, or 4-H club.

Try joining something, the SCA is a good place to meet people of all ages and learn new crafts. Then you can practise them at home. If your parents weren't interested in going along too, you would need some kind of note signed by them. Ask the contact person what is required.
Some info about it to show your parents:
http://sca.org/officers/chatelaine/SCATeens.pdf
http://www.artemisia.sca.org/ is your local "Kingdom." It's a medieval group, so there are Kingdoms, Baronies and all that. Click on "groups" on the left hand side and it should give you a list to look through. There should be a group in your area.
I joined because it was a family friendly atmosphere (there aren't many) and I could learn different things. So far I'm learning to make costumes (not very good, but they are wearable!) I've learned to tabletweave, am about to learn to knit, have tried medieval cooking, tried medieval dancing, learned some stuff about heraldry, made a felt mask, improved my embroidery and started learning rapier. Plenty to fill my spare time (not that I have a whole lot.) It's pretty cool when you've spent hours working on something, to actually have a finished item to show off :) My boyfriend and I are going to use our new skills to make Christmas presents this year.

Wow I am having the same problem!! Me and my mom have been renting movies from Giant Eagle along with getting 3 movies from Netflix. Try to watch movies at your house, if you have any. At my house we have over 100 movies so I have a lot of movies. When I'm all movied out, I go online and try to research one thing I have never heard/seen about. Its actually very fun and guess what...you actually learn something!! You could also join a group online that you have something incommon like iceskating. You could find an iceskating group or website where you can talk to people who have the same thing incommon! You could talk about anything and you might also learning something else new!! You could also research some jobs that you might be able to do next year. Go get a little head start. Instead of reading books, make your own! It can be about anything you want or anything you are interested in like skating or swimming.
Well I hope this helps!! You never know what will help...

you can go to the mall, the movies, shop online, go on a diet (it will give you something to focus on), or maybe start going to a summer camp.
