If you like action and mystery, try Detective Conan. It was on Adult Swim at one time (as "Case Closed") but it was canceled quite a while ago.

Tenjho Tenge
Description:
For most of their lives, Souichiro Nagi and Bob Makihara have been able to take over a school by fighting and beating everyone. Their first day at Todou Academy started as any other new school, they start taking it over by beating up everyone that got in their way. Not until Maya Natsume and Masataka Takayanagi showed up did they realize that this was no ordinary school. This was a school where people have powerful techniques, uncanny skill. They also learned that the ruling Enforcement Group, lead by Mitsuomi Takayanagi, is not to be taken lightly and are not tolerant of their disturbance. In order to get back at the Enforcement group, Souichiro and Bob join the Juuken Club which is the only surviving group that opposes them. The more the two groups interact, the more they begin to realize they are trapped in a conflict they know little about.
Note:
A little graphic, but really funny. The only bad part is that it only lasted for 24 episodes. Read the nanga when the release more in the US.

The greatest action/adventure/mystery/horror and romantic-ish anime is Death Note. You will be on the edge of your seat with suspense and anticipation. Even though it's not dubbed yet, it's awesome.
Inuyasha fit into all your categories ^^. It's great with romance, has unique and awesome adventure/action, the humor is awesome, and the romance is sweet and noticeable.
Don't make fun, but Princess Tutu is actually pretty good. It's the base of romance, but the humor is really cute and funny, it's action isn't that great, but the adventure is always there. I, personally, think it's a great anime.
DNAngel is what you're probably looking for. There's a definite, kidish romance, dark adventure, action is exquisit, humor is definitely there.
Just search around, there's bound to be SOMETHING out there for you.

adult swim or not two of the best are Fullmetal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop as far as series goes. A couple other good series to see would be Chrono Crusade, Samurai X, Mermaid's Saga, Ranma 1/2 to name a few. If you want to see an anime movie I'd suggest some classics like Ninja Scroll, Akira, Wrath Of The Ninja, or Perfect Blue.

This may go against your request on nothing from AS, but just thought I would suggest it if they have stopped running the episodes. (It has been forever since I have had Cable/Satellite of Cartoon Network in general)
I personally like Full Metal Alchemist.
If you are looking for the Japanese versions I know that you can download the versions that have Japanese speaking, and English subtitles on Limewire.
There are a total of 52 episodes, and a full length movie (as far as I know)

Try watching Romeo x Juliet.......it has some action and some romance. I highly recommend it!
Also try Darker Than Black and Code Geass! All three of these are new anime and the graphics are not bad.
