I'm planning to go to Vegas in August for my 22nd birthday with just my fiance for 2 nights. He drives a 92 Hatchback SI. So I pretty sure gas won't be so expensive. And we're planning to stay at Sahara. So what do you think it'll cost for that and other expenses (e.i. food, games, gambling, miscellaneous, etc.) ? Any advice would be great. Plus i kno how HOT it can get in Vegas, so I will remember to bring sunblock and a bathing suit.

I agree with the above poster on the Sahara. It really isn't that great. The casino is average, the food and rooms are horrible. Not to mention, you don't get the feeling that you are on the strip at the Sahara, because it is so far north up the strip. There is, however a monorail stop right by the Sahara, so at least it is convenient.

I can't agree with the above poster on the cost of the Monte Carlo though. You will pay at least $150/night on the weekdays, and probably over $200/night on weekends, unless you have some sort of comp or coupon going in...but it is a nice hotel, and one of the more "budget" ones that is good for the price on the strip.

So you are driving, so i won't include travel costs, but below is just "off the top of my head" costs staying on the strip for two nights:

Hotel- $300

Food- $250-300 (that's including the above posters advice of driving off strip for most meals, since you have a car, and including maybe one nice, above average dinner)

Gambling- this of course varies a TON based on how big of a gambler you are, and how much you actually win. I'd say for two nights, if you are going to be gambling a moderate amount, budget $500 total ($250 each) or $125/night. You can play alot of slots with $125/night, assuming you are getting decent paybacks. If you play table games more, double it.

Misc.- tips, incedentals, etc. $50/each for the trip. Everyone in Vegas tips, so don't feel you have to tip more than a couple bucks for each "service" that is performed for you.

About $1200 for the both of ya's sounds right. If you go clubbing, and buy bottle service etc., double that...

First of all I would not stay at the Sahara. Its an older hotel and not among the best on the strip. I recommend the Monte Carlo and you can probably get it for under $100 a night. It is much closer to the center of action on the strip.

Food is really expensive in the Strip hotels now, not like it was 10 years ago. So eat at one of the Denny's or McDonalds for breakfast. and go to a food court for lunch and dinner. The MGM and Monte Carlo have food courts and there is a nice one in the Fashon Show Mall next to the Treasure Island hotel. Also go off the strip to restaurants for dinner. If you do stay at the Sahara there is a Tony Roma's restaurant just a couple blocks east of there on Sahara Rd. If you want a dinner buffet try one down on Fremont St or in the Imperial Palace.

Your biggest expense will be for gambling and the amount you need to take depends on how much gambling you plan to do. I can tell you this, the slots don't pay off much any more either. Even the penny slots will eat up your money. They are fun but you do not win much if at all.
