What's it mean when a bird taps at your window and then when you go to look it stares at you for like 2 minutes then flys away. Someone told me that's bad luck.

Some ravens and crows may even speak to you. Poe was not making his famous poem up out of whole cloth.

Nevermore.

I thought it was only birds *flying* into windows that was bad luck. In fact, I thought that it meant that someone in your family was about to die.

Of course, what it *really* means is the bird was trying to figure out what to do with a window.

It is just a popular saying only. In different religion/ languages they tell differently. Actually no angel comes to tap your door. The actual meaning of this saying is - you will luck to get an opportunity for anything only once in your life and you have to utilize it. If you miss to utilize it, again such opportunity may not come. This is applicable for anything.-

I think the birds are trying to tell you to watch out for something.

Because most birds can't speak English they have to communicate in other ways such at tapping windows.

Or...you could have a bird stalking you. Watch your back.
