I have an HP Pavilion 501n with an Intel 82810e chip set. There is no disable option in the BIOS screen. I already installed a video card but when I start up my computer there is a black screen but it turns on when I am at the welcome screen in Windows XP.

Integrated graphics is automatically turned off by BIOS and stops sharing w/ system RAM once you plug in a graphics card into the AGP or X16 PCIe slot.
It is very likely that your power supply does have enough juice for your new graphics card. OEMs like HP usually install small power supplies that are just right for the PC and with very little wattage to spare for upgrades.

If your PC was using on-board video (no video card), then disable on-board video in the BIOS to prevent possible setup problems:
Press the F1 key repeatedly when the first screen appears.
A BIOS setup screen displays (BIOS setup screens vary depending on model of PC).
Use the directions on the BIOS screen to find and disable on-board video. The on-board video setting is usually on the Advanced page.
NOTE: In some cases, the BIOS does not have the option to disable the onboard video. In this case, select AGP or PCI as the primary output. The BIOS and the operating system should then detect the new video card instead of the onboard video.

Press F10 to save the settings and exit.

So you have searched the entire BIOS and have not found an option for "primary video adapter"?

That is what it would be labeled as in the BIOS. Just set it to PCI-e or whatever you have the video card plugged into.
