If you actually rub your nose to scratch the itch and dislodge something, which you discover is hanging from your nose half an hour later when you go to the bathroom.

I don't think that is bad at all, after all, whose nose hasn't itched? You just rub it and you will be all right. You don't have to go to the exact point of itch to relieve it. I sat on a piece of pink bubble gum when I had light blue pants on. It stuck. I tried the suggestion of ice to make it come off. Then it was wet pink bubble gum on light blue pants.
I know people who accidentally toot and are very embarrassed when they do it.
