My Father. (Cliche, I know, but I don't care).

He's an incredibly intelligent man, well educated, addicted to the written word. We grew up listening to him read to us. Everything from LOTR and Peirce Anthony to the Bible and the Art of War. He's always worked really hard to make sure his family was provided for. I remember being young and my father would get up and go to work before the sun came up and work till long after sun set 6 days a week and be up and ready for church on Sunday morning. He was never a "Sunday Christian". He lived his beliefs every day of his life. He taught me to think for myself and question everything that anyone ever told me. He's an artist, an author, a poet, an incredible man. I remember many nights that he went without to make sure his family was taken care of and with four of us kids, that was no easy task. I have more respect for him than any other man I've ever met in my life. My oldest brother is not biologically his, but don't tell my father that's not his son....you might just come to blows. He's everything I wish I could be. There's not a single time I can remember that he wasn't working and providing for us in one way or another. He's an honest, loving, caring man. He was a strict disciplinarian and instilled strong values in us from a young age without being a dictator. He is an amazing man. My father, my hero.

My step-mother-in-law. She has herself together. She's had to raise 3 kids...completely on her own. (The dad of her oldest 2 wasn't around because he simply wasn't fit for the part of daddy. My father-in-law is dad to her youngest. He died suddenly when the baby was only 5 1/2 months old.) She's taking care of her 3 children, her household, is very active in her church, and even has TWO businesses, both of which are doing VERY well. And she's done it all with such a big smile on her face. If I could only be half the person she is.

She's only 43 and said to me just the other day "I'm out of debt!" She OWNS her home, car, etc.....
