Tamora Pierce and Robin McKinley both write really great young adult books. I love The Song of the Lioness quartet by Pierce and The Hero and the Crown by McKinley. Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Air by Diana Wynn Jones are fun as well.

If you have not yet read The Truth About Forever, That Summer, Just Listen, Keeping the Moon, or any other books by the excellent writer Sarah Dessen I would definetely recommend reading those! They are some of the best books you will ever read, at least in my opinion!

If you're into video games and best friends stories I think you might like my novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal.
GAMEPLAYER follows the adventures of Nine-dog, Gator and Louie; three racially diverse buddies growing up in the skateboarding, video gaming obsessed Santa Monica, California beach life-style.
It's available at the normal online sites like amazon, B&N, Borders, etc.
You can check it out free by reading the prologue on my site www.myspace.com/gameplayerbook.
Not meant as a commercial just a suggestion,
Gary Anderson

-The Mortal Instruments Series is good by Cassandra Clare (first book is City of Bones). The series is urban fantasy. -Try looking into authors like Sarah Dessen,Laurie Halse Anderson, or Chris Crutcher, Caroline B. Cooney for new books outside of a series. They are fantastic authors who write really well and you can check out the many different books they have written. My favorite Dessen is This Lullaby; my favorite Anderson is Speak and also Twisted; my favorite Crutcher is Downriver; and Cooney is Face on the Milk Carton - Classics like The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton or graphic novels like Rapunzels Revenge by Shannon and Dean Dale.

James Patterson has written a series of novels under the "Maximum Ride" title with various subtitles. They're a great read even for adults. Their about an experiment gone wrong that created human angels.

I would suggest the "Clan of the Cave Bear" series.
