One of the first guys chasing Aaron is actually Craig Sager, now a TNT basketball sideline reporter. I'm not sure, though, if he was the first to greet Aaron:

As far as I know,and I remeber watching it on TV(before cable),the gentleman that was running with Hank Aaron was never mentioned by MLB. He might have said it like after the game.
