What should it be when trying to conceive, and how do you take it?

Do you take the temperature like normal under the tongue...where. And how do you use this temperature when trying to conceive?

Before ovulation it's lower (for me around 96.9-97.3) and after ovulation it's higher (for me around 97.5-97.9). It stays up if you are pregnant, instead of droppping right before your period is due.

I use a regular digital thermometer and have had no problems, but you can buy a basal thermometer at Walmart for around $10 if you want. They are a little more sensitive. You take it first thing in the morning, before you speak, or get out of bed, and do it at the same time each morning.

This websight. www.fertilityfriend.com, has been helpful to me and I use it to track my temps. It tells me when I ovulate.

*I take mine like normal, under the tongue. It doesn't help you conceive, because by the time your temperature goes up, you have already ovulated. If you use ovulation tests they will give you about 24 hours notice. I use them as well, and keep track of them with my temps on the websight I gave you.

my temps were always low. about 95.8 or so. i took it with a regular themometer under my tongue. i have since found out that i have other fertility issues, though, and in talking with my doctor i was told that temperature charting is one of those most ineffective ways to conceive because theres too much room for error and you don't know that you've ovulated until after it's already happened. she told me not to waste my time anymore and just use ovulation kits. good luck with whatever you decide though :)
