What if there are no leads and the shoplifter doesnt ever return to the place for about a week? Like stayin low and just stay out of sight for a while. No one around the area knows your name.

Honestly, Philly has enough trouble with killings and drugs and guns.. a shoplifter is not likely to be caught unless they are caught in the act.

They'll stay on it for a lot longer than a week. Depending on what happened, how much was taken, if anyone was hurt, etc it could be 6 months - years. If you did something, turn yourself in or (since there's a 99.9% you'll never do that) never go back to that place again. And certainly don't hit anything in the same state because they'll put 2 and 2 together.

If you didn't do it but you're considering it - don't be an idiot. There's way too much media nowadays and surveillance cameras are only getting better (I know - I sell them). Besides that, forensics are NOT just used for murders anymore.

The technology is cheaper and easier to perform, which allows authorities to use them on simple things like robberies, with or without injuries. They'll check footprints, shoe size, brand, height, weight, strands of hair, etc...

Not likely if you just stole a stick of gum and no one got hurt. But they'll still get you by your pic.

And whether anyone in that area knows you or not, don't be a fool. The owner of the place might decide to post the video more publicly. Local newscasts are often lifted to the internet, and many robberies make national news.

Oh yeah, and as far as going back to the place: WHY??? They'll have your picture posted so all the employees know who you are!

Hope this helped you or whoever is wondering.

Hiding out? Feeling a little paranoid? Just give yourself up and get it over with. No one likes a thief.

I don't know "how long" but I do know it would be very foolish for you to EVER return to that place.
