well maybe because you guys can just allow people to say what they want. If it was someone who shared your same opinion i bet you wouldn't report them.I was looking at a question a while ago about the cloning and you talk about reporting someone because they started. what's up with that?I just don't get it. why is everyone so mad here.

Reasons for reporting varies. Some do it for fun.
Some are sensitive for minor things. Some want to
exercise their right if they can not do it elsewhere.
Attitudes of people are as varied as our finger prints -
no two are alike.
Even in genuine cases of logical reasoning, contradictions are inevitable. That is so because logic
has its limitations:
In the 1930s, Austrian mathematician Godel proved
a theorem which became the "Godel theorem" in
cognition theory. It states that any formalized
'logical' system in principle cannot be complete
in itself. It means that a statement can always be
found that can be neither disproved nor proved
using the means of that particular system. To
discuss about such a statement, one must go beyond
that very logic system; otherwise nothing but a
vicious circle will result. Psychologists say that
any experience is contingent - it's opposite is
logically possible and hence should not be treated
as contradictory.

Respecet is earned not given. The only thing that is owed respect is the sanctity of this board.
You find way to many people that find an opposing argument to be insulting. I think the "thumbs down" option is probably the most self destructive thing Y! could possibly do. Deciding that someone's answer is not valid or correct and displaying that publicly before allowing people to make thier own judgements perpetuates a system of negativity.
The use of logic is based in fact. "Fact" or objective truth is only truely visible outside of experience. However we as humans have developed our reality solely on expriential reality. Therefore nobody can presume to truely know anything as the objective truth. Our only notions of fact are experiential, and we dont all experience the same reality. Therefore our perceptions of fact and logic are all different.

Because it's not a matter of stating your opinion where people get reported (besides for those trolls!). It's doing far worse than that, and peope that are reporting them have all the right to. That button was created for a REASON!

"Everyone reports others for no reasons"
Correction: SOME report others for no reason. Y!A community guidelines are clear on what is, and what is not a violation. Read up for yourself. I have never sent an abuse report to Y!A staff that was not a DIRECT violation.
Why are those of us who are RESPONSIBLY reporting getting lumped into the same group as the trolls?
EDIT: if you have a question about my motives perhaps you should email me directly, i woul be more than willing to address your concerns. Why beat around the bush?
EDIT2:
btw if you really thought all of this was unproductive, Why contribute to the problem by posting this garbage?
i checked your questions and they all revolve around the current problems that plague G&WS, perhaps you could conrtibute something G&WS related next time? attack me all you want, join the club, but the fact remains your contributions to gender studies are minimal at best, while mine are substantial.

EXCELLENT QUESTION
If everyone respected each others beliefs and opinions there would be no wars, backstabbing and bitchiness and everyone would get along great. Your right why doesn't everyone respect each other as individuals? all I can say is I try to every little helps.

Obviously, not all are adults, and, even if they ARE, not everyone is a MATURE adult. Live and let live, I say, and don't sweat the small stuff......
