For sure it would be taxed like cigarettes. This would provide a new source of tax revenue for the government, which should result of the lowering of other taxes, such as sales tax and income tax. The lower taxes should stimulate the economy.
As for whether it would produce a negative impact on productivity, I'd say doubtful. It would have the same restrictions as alcohol, i.e. don't do it at work.

it may enable a lot of taxes to be accrued. between the excuses FDR wanted to end Prohibition became into because of the fact it may generate 1000's of hundreds of thousands in taxes. it may additionally save billions each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in regulation enforcement and incarceration. As many as a million/3 of prisoners in federal prisons are 'casual' drug clients, human beings whose merely crime is inner maximum use of medicine. Why ought to we waste scarce regulation enforcement components chasing innocuous potheads. OTOH some agencies could be affected if extra human beings have been sitting at abode smoking pot and gazing Betty Boop cartoons and Cheech and Chong video clips than going out to bars and action pictures and stuff.
