This is a very common problem and is easily fixable, it will just take some time. It's like if you find roaches in your house, you can get rif them but it takes alot of work..haha.
Ok, seriously now...you will need a virus scanner with the lates definitions and a spyware cleaner. You can do a few things..or try ll of them until it cleans the spyware. Go to Trend Micro's website and run the online scanner. It's at housecall dot trendmicro dot com. it takes awhile so be patient or find somehting to do while it's scanning. i suggest that before you do this, from internet explorer go to Tools > Internet options > click on the option to delete cookies and temp files.
also go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and look for any programs you don't need, like any random toolbars or anything that looks unfamiliar, just click on the remove button and follow the prompts to remove it. If you find that you can't remove one of them it's very likely that is the culprit that is installed that is causing the crazy behavior. then run the trend micro scan and see if it finds anything.
also make sure your virus scanner has the lates virus defintions and makes ure it is not expired. if it is expired you can download AVG and use it for free and it works well. you can get that at free dot grisoft dot com, then download the one that says 'basic protection'.
to prevent this from happning in the future, when you see a pop-up that sayd something bogus like "click here to vote which one is Paris Hilton" etc. don't click on anything inside of that window..always click on the 'x' in the upper right corner to close the window. when you click on those things, it is likely going to install a piece of spyware or something that will lead ot it for sure.

Run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install your current protections before using these.

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/

2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.
http://www.ewido.net/en/

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

Good luck.

In one word, CCleaner".

Go to the site below, it is a free download and IMO it works like a champ. It is certainly worth more than I paid for it...

I had that happen on my computer last year. It took me 3 months to find something to remove it. Try searching for something on google, yahoo, or any other search engine that can remove them.
