Scientists would never hide finding life on other planets. There's so much good that would come of it.

Finding life on other planets is helpful because it helps us to learn more about how life arose on THIS planet, and what evolution looks like outside of earth, what other environments would support life - it's a great big important thing.

If we are not alone, this fact could not be hidden. And who would want to?

Maybe for suprise, I dunno but I think a better question would be why are we even looking for life? Even if we do find life somewhere else, so what! What's gonna happen?
