A half cap of hydrogen peroxide and half water poured in the ear is effective. Lay one one side with that ear facing up. After a minute, put a cotton ball over the ear's opening and roll to the other side to let it drain. Repeat on the other side.

No "tools" needed.

Cerumen (earwax) doesn't really have to be removed from your ear. Our culture says...well that its gross basically. It is created by cells in our ear though and does have a purpose for protection in the ear. I'm a nursing student and technically we are supposed to tell people to NOT use Q-tips because they can cause the wax to be pushed further down the auditory canal and could also cause damage (however I grew up using them and still do.) The device you were talking about will work, just squirt the water in your ear while you have your head turned on the side. Just be careful not to place it to deeply and don't push it in if you feel resistance. The best and safest way to really remove wax for appearances sake is to take the corner of a wet wash cloth and sweep it in a circular motion in your ear canal. Safe and keeps the wax out of sight. Hope this helps!

Don't use q-tips, they push more earwax down the ear canal then they clean out - the smallest thing that your should stick in your ear is your elbow - that's right it won't fit.
You can buy the liquid stuff that the doctors use to dissolve and flush ear wax out. Ear wax is actually there to protect your ears.

don't use those gadgets, they will cause an overproduction of ear wax and can lead to ear infections.
