Actually nobody is FORCING anybody to give up their number so Randy Moss can have it. Moss is actually working out a price with Ben Watson for #84 considering...
#18 Randy's rookie number (Donte Stallworth)
#88 Randy's college number (Kyle Brady)
#84 Randy's Vikings number (Ben Watson)
I honestly don't know why Ben Watson is even charging Moss for the number considering the fact that #89 (Watson's college/high school number) is available. Goes to show you how cheap he is LOL. But to cap off this long answer, come the season opener Randy Moss will once again be dawning #84.

Whatever number that makes him shutup and be happy so he can focus on the game. With a guy like Randy, if he wants 18 or 84 and someone else has it, they'll force him to switch. I know it.

I think he will get any number he wants becuase he is one of the best WR in the NFL he is the best on the patriots.
