First of all let me start off telling you that my computer is as good as garbage now that I have upgraded to Windows Vista. I'm real siked to play Halo 2 Vista on my PC, Crysis, and the highly anticipated Gears Of War PC.
First of all here are my computers specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium
2.7 GHz Intel Celeron Processor
512MB DDR SDRAM memory
Intel Extreme Graphics

And here are the requirements for what I need:

Windows Vista
2 GHz or faster processor
1 GB of system RAM
NVIDIA 6100, ATI X700, or above

Could someone point out some specific parts I could pick up at like Best Buy?

I also need a new motherboard, because the one I have isn't compatable with the new PCI Express Cards.
Can you give me links to websites (perferebly BestBuy) for the following parts that will run smoothly with Vista and cost less than $800:

Motherboard
2GB RAM
Direct X 10 Video Card

Whoever gives me the best answer will get 50 Points.(Id make 4 more ?s and pick you) Thanks a lot!

well for 1 thing upgrade your ram to a comfortable 1gig or 1.5 higher the better bro.

as for your graphics cards i am sure (being i'm a game developer) that your system will need an upgrade to play crysis, it's going to be very vram intensive from what i've witnessed. video cards are a tossup as always.

i could point you to any consumer report and well they'll all generally say the same thing, the more expensive the longer it will last, as for graphics requirements for crysis ( i think that will be a little above the other 2 for now) you could very possibly need the best on the market to play it when it comes out.

i mean look at these...

http://www.crysis-online.com/Media/Screenshots/Screenshots/Frozen-Wasteland-02.jpg

minimum requirements for crysis (the new crytek engine that uses sandbox and the shader 2.0 thing) states you need at least a 2.8ghz, and a radion x1600 so

currently a radion X1650 Pro is going on AMD/ATI's website for roughly 200$ + s&h&tax&crap

i'm really awaiting the crysis game also, but sadly in order for me or any other gamer (or developer) to enjoy it we need to pay $$$ out the rear to get the best effect but all in all crysis is one game i've waited over a year for release.

i hope this answers your question ( don't worry about the other 40 points i just enjoy answering questions)

Okay first off, we are not shopping at Best Buy because they overcharge, and we are close on the budget to begin with. Here is the motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128012
the RAM:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231087
and the video card:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814186016

But you also will need a new power supply to support that card, try this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010

Lastly as for the processor, I am not sure whether that Celeron will work on the newer motherboards, it would depend on what socket it is, but it is pretty slow so you should probably get a new one anyway, this one here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115013

All totaled with the 3 things you asked for plus the power supply and processor it comes to $812, before some rebates. Now some other people will probably recommend some stuff that is cheaper, and tell you to just keep your current power supply and processor, but remember you get what you pay for, and the stuff I have recommended will give you a good system.

I don't have time to write it all out, but you can make a killer gaming pc for $800, expecially if that doesn't include OS. But only if you buy your parts online, say at newegg.com or tigerdirect.com. No kidding, parts are probably 1/2 to 1/4 the price of bestbuy or any other tangible store.

P.S. No offense, but that PC was shot before Vista came around. : P

If its for gaming on use on Vista, think a bit more.

NVIDIA , 8800 GT in SLI configuration. You need to pick up a NVIDIA SLI approved PSU (power supply unit) Based on the card, theres only a few motherboards capable of supporting SLI. Work with hardware keeping this in mind, you'll have a kick *** system worthy enough to play Supreme Commander, World of Warcraft among others.
