It certainly was not teaching English, although I have a natural talent for writing in our crazy language. The event that AFFECTED me the most was the death of my grandfather. It's EFFECT was to make me emotionally comprehend the meaning of mortality. Before that time, I knew intellectually that we all die, just as I know that life exists on other planets. But it didn't hit me where I live until it happened.
