i think she should, if she wanted to, write the books from other characters point of view. Ex:
-Lord Voldemort and the Brat who stole the stone
-Hagrid and the chamber of various animals (steve erwin cameo!!)
-The Godfather Part 4:Sirius
etc.

this way, harry isn't over merchandised (not that it isn't already, but...) but people could see the other sides of the story.

Well, no matter how many petitions people write and sign and whatever it won't change the fact that what JKR wrote has been printed and the books are sitting in storage waiting for saturday. What she wrote is what will be.

And I wish she'd continue writing Harry Potter books just as much as everyone, but I just don't see it happening. She's always said that she will write seven books, one for each of Harry's years at Hogwarts, and no more. Now she's said "never say never, I might write an 8th someday, but I have not made plans to at all" (not a direct quote, obviously).

It is, as they say, out of our hands. JKR KNOWS how much all the fans want her to keep writing. That's all anyone can do. She can't be blackmailed into writing.

No amount of protesting or petitioning is going to change Harry Potters fate. The book is written and published and will be released in a week and a half.
Even if, why change the story? The story will be good even if Harry dies. Not to mention he's a fictional character. As much as I love the books and the character I'm not going to loose sleep if he is killed off. Why worry about it? May I sugest you put your energies into something productive and stop worrying about what may or may not happen to a fictional character.

Look, I think it is not good but a good idea hat JK is ending the series. If she doesn't then there will be all tese mysteries that will never be solved. And anyway., I think it is better to end the series with fame and everyone loving the book, then to keep going with no answers and keep rolling in the money. If JK wants to say something about Harry in anopther book like ten years from now she pobably will. But what if Harry dies in DH? Then she couldn't exactly write more books called Harry Potter and the something something. Anyway, I think it is great that you like this book so much you want to keep it going, but I don't really want to sign the petition sorry.

It is too late to do anything to change the outcome of the final Harry Potter book. With less than 2 weeks before it comes out (only ten days now...!) there is no earthly way of changing anything..not even the cover art.

Take heart however, Ms Rowling has said something like "I will never say never about revisiting Harry's world..." That does not mean Harry is alive..it simply means she might, some day, have the urge to catch up on what the others are doing...

Dude, I love the Harry Potter books because J.K Rowling creates the story so well & you wanting to "save harry potter" is like ruining the story 'cause that's what makes the story so great, letting a heroe die. If it's how the story is leading to, let it. You don't want to be reading the books after the seventh one because there is like no more to write about.

Take heed of Daniel Radcliffe's own words on whether Harry is going to die in the last book or not: "IF HE IS GOING TO DIE HEROICALLY, THEN IT'S A GOOD WAY FOR HIM TO GO."

Whether or not Harry is getting it in Book 7, the series ends. Personally, I tip my hat to JK Rowling for her decision that the 7th book would the last. I respect her for that. Early on she already said she's going to write 7 books to cover the 7 years of Harry's going to Hogwarts. It became part of the Harry Potter enigma, don't you see? Don't fret, she said she MIGHT publish a Harry Potter encyclopaedia or something in the future.

Brace yourself, my friend. Let the story unfold as JKR wants it. Its her creation, not yours, not mine.

Now I understand that Harry Potter is a great set of books and movies, i dont undermine that at all. But wouldnt u rather it end on a great note than have it go on and on until it gets bad and everyone is sick of it?Let it end and be great forever .

A bit late for that. The book is going to be released next week, and those who ordered online probably already have their copies being shipped right now so as to arrive next Saturday. Their not about to start making changes now.

1) Online petitions are a waste of time and not worth the electrons it takes to display them on your screen. See: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.asp

2) JKR has done a GREAT job of creating a whole world and sharing it with us. If she wants to be done with writing about it, I'm not going to argue with her. If what she wants is to take a break and work on something else, or not do anything for a while, then she d**n well deserves it as far as I'm concerned.
