If you haven't read the book you might think it was good. If we are talking about the effects, I think it was really good...but...
It is very very very HORRIBLE! If you have read the book you could say that there is too much you have missed. I don't know how they will do the Half Blood Prince with such a mess. Too many important information and character not introduced and was cut off and added funny but irrelevant scenes to the movie. There are too much info that they cut away that is very crusial to the next series, also they have too many misrepresentation like how Cho the one betraying the DA instead of her best firend. They did not show the hospital where Nevilles parents are that gives more info about Bellatrix. Also they left too many things out from the house of Black that was soon given to Harry that would be a very big part of the story in the next book and maybe to the last book as things kept there by the house elf was are very important to Valdemort's destruction. Also they did not even show what Harry's emotions that mostly have lead to all of the happenings in this book and the next. Also they did not mention Ron and Hermoine and Draco being prefect and Ron being a Keepr in the game. Which would be a very important in the next series.
What I was mostly disappointed is the ending when Dumbledore talk to Harry. There have been information there that they left people to figure out themselves.
If I were J.K. Rowling I will give this a grade "T=Troll"

I'm not a huge fan of Harry Potter movies, but I reluctantly went with a friend to the midnight showing last night and I thought that it was really good... I will however have to rent the other movies to catch up a bit on some parts I didn't quite understand.. If the movies are this good, I'm curious about the books.. I'm more of a book person and most times the books that go into movies leave out a lot of things... As a whole I thought it was really good as well.

Pebblespro, you simply must read the books. As good as some of the movies are, the books are 10 times better. Oh, and don't be discouraged from them when you watch the first couple of movies and find them incredibly cheesy, LOL.
Rhea, I have obviosly read the books and, really, if you weren't happy with this HP movie, you will never be happy. This one actually upheld the integrity of the book and kept in everything that was truly important. It is an incredibly condensed but loyal adaptation of the book.

it was very good i went to the midnight showing it left out some details i was looking forward to from the book but otherwise it was great.
