I have always being in search of the truth and my purpose for living. I have approached religious teachers and leaders from different denominations/religions, people i meet or associate with, family, friends, collegues, etc. and after a process of evaluation using my own perception and logic mixed with possibility and imagination and tons of research, I have boiled it all down to the fact that we can only be here for the purpose of growing the knowledge we have and sharing it with all. I believe in the power of energy (positive and negative forces) and that my knowledge and experience will be "given" back to the earth when i die. It is the reason why, for example, a person born in Australia in the year 2000 can have the same "gifts" or "talents" as Albert Einstein or Beethoven or Leonardo Da Vinci...because their "energy/knowledge" was given back to the earth and borne into the minds of new life. Please feel free to share your knowledge regarding this topic

You are a smart man. Most of us ponder that question at some time in our lives. But the word "meaning" in that inquisition isn't a practical word to use in the phrase. "Purpose" of life would make it a much more meaningful and comprehendible question. Which would cause me to seek the truth in a much more 'meaningful" and practical way. I do believe that the psalms, proverbs, and the "SONG OF SOLOMON", is the best place for you to find what you are seeking. You shall discover that King Sol. always began by speaking of purpose, therefore disclosing the fact that God answered his personal prayers because he was sincere about what he asked for. Still I strongly suggest that you never pray for wisdom, because the path of enlightenment can be a long and winding road. I will share some things with you that I know. We as human beings, are like plants that grow from the earth, or like limbs that grow from a tree, or like fruit that grows from the limbs of the trees, speaking in biological terms, the quasiquantum explanation of our physical life on this planet is much more complicated, yet much more simple, than any scientist can begin to understand. DNA is created from spiritual resonance, which causes proteins to come togather in an embedded process, (remember form follows function) that is capable of regeneration, it is sort of like a microscopic, bio-LOGICAL computer/antenna/self-regenerating circuit in which a spirit is able to live and function for the duration of a learning process. The soul is part of that process also, which is the ability to percieve and apply emotion and it is created in the mind by the spirit through the valence function of fractal element chemical frequencies. This a question that I have struggled with for 30 years. So many tragic things have taken place in my life and I just didn't want to be here any more. I needed to know that there a was a reason for all of this and it had better be a d**n good one!
I have learned through all my reading and soul-searching that the purpose of life is for us to grow spiritually and learn all that we can while we are here. We CAN learn how to have peace in the midst of life's storms. We need to learn how to be responsible for our own actions and work on doing what we can to control ourselves and not try to control everyone around us. I totally trust that everything happens for a reason and those reasons will be revealed to me at a later time. This has proven to be true so many times and I know it will again. We are not here by accident and the "universe" is not spinning out of control. There is a plan and things are going to work out for the greater good of us all, no matter how painful it may be getting to the other side where peace is.
Personally, I was able to learn what I needed to survive in this world through a 12 step fellowship, but I believe we can all reach deep within ourselves and find a strenghth we did not know existed. Sharing what we learn with others is the icing on the cake. It's like it doubles the peace and joy that has already been found within.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

There is none whatsoever.

If not for the 5 major die-offs in earth's history, especially the one 65 million years ago, humans would not exist. If another one occurs any time soon, we will cease to exist.

The average human lifespan was about the early 30's for almost all human existence. Only in the past 150 years have a large portion of humans gotten the free time and affluence to get beyond simple survival.

If you want to call that having a purpose, go ahead, but we don't. We are exactly like any herd animal taken down by a lion or a male lion taken down by another lion simply becuase he wanted those females. That's it.

U know... I often think about that too. And it's so strange how powerful and all-knowing, but if you just try to think of humanity on Earth from a Universal standpoint, you get to see people like ants: we born, live and die for millions of times. It simply makes no sense! When you see i that way, you can't find out even why we exist. I believe we live so we can learn, we learn so we can find out...
I think we're created for a great cause, or at least A cause, to do something that needs to be done.Otherwise, theres nothing else to it. Probably like the Universe. Borns and dies over and over repeatedly, with as far as we know, no goal.
I far too confusing. It's a question far greater than our greatness.

I believe my purpose in life is to gain knowledge and pass it on... but i do believe when we are born we have to create our own prupose becuase we are born with no purpose at all; if you are religious then you will know god gave every one free will so your actions only affect you and maybe others around you and your path in life which of course is ever changing with the fact of fate intervening all the time.
I may have gone off the point here sorry.
Anywho Purpose on earth and in life? make your own. there is no fixed purpose or idea to live by.

To me, the purpose of life is to interact with other people. I think you are supposed to be born, live awhile, find out about Jesus Christ. Make a choice to believe it or not, if so, spread that knowledge to other people by daily choices, actions, etc. I think you should have children and pass on your beliefs to them. If you choose not to believe in Jesus it is still the ultimate purpose to continue to have life for an appointed amount of time until you are given a chance again to turn to Jesus , eventually we all die and if we chose for Jesus to be our God and salvation we will live continally in fellowhip with him for all eternity even after our lives here on earth are done. But if we did not make the choice while we had this life to follow Jesus we will still live eternally not in body form but in spirit form and we will be separated from all access to God and we will be with Satan in what is commonly referred to as hell.

So, the purpose of life is to be given opportunities to see and learn about GOD (Jesus) and share that with others too.

Purpose is something each person has to create-discover for himself. I don't believe there is one objective truth that everyone should recognize. There isn't one right answer. We're all different. The things you find really meaningful might not be so important to someone else.

Once you understand that you have been created the purpose kind of finds you. God has a plan for everyone, the purpose of life is to follow God and His plan for each of us.

It really isn't all that difficult once you believe.
