I thought they were all the same thing, but I guess not. I reported an issue to my Case Manager about a CPS case, & she told me that I should've called CPS & I'd get in trouble if I didn't. I thought CMs were part of CPS. Maybe not.

But they SURE do all have something in common. They get stories mixed up in reported situations. They add stuff in & leave stuff out & make things a great big mess. & when the CPS or Adult PS gets involved, everything that's documented turns out to not be true, & that's a great big hassle for me.

welcome to the wonderfull world of democratic b.s. and she should have taken care of that since she is a case mgr . but she is delegating responsibility to you . why would you have to call cps ? I dont understand why she would have you call that into them . of course most of government workers do make a mountain out of an ant hill .it is ridiculous. good luck .

CPS is a seperate agency dealing with the welfare of children. A case manager is a person that is working with individuals, adult and child to help them work through the system. They may work for a variety of agencies in the area. A case manager has an obligation to report possible child abuse to CPS but doesnt actually handle it themselves. Social Work is the field of study that case managers and CPS workers learn to become what they are. Therapists, counselors etc can also be social workers. So Social Work is the profession and the other titles and agencies they work for vary and do different things. Hope this helps. I am a social worker working in state mental hospital.
