Why do they hate America?

We have a group site with us immigrants in UK,Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Hong Kong and everywhere. Non US all attack Americans and its foreign policy and Bush and Iraq war. They watch BBC, Aljazeera and canada TV and they all have nothing to say about their countries but America. Most of them are on democrat side and most of them like Michael More film. Is US media killing its own image in the world?

Consider the sources, BBC recently admitted left leaning tendancies, Canada is a solialist country that has allows percentage of their citizens to come here to have surguries. The socialized healthcare in Canada won't operate unless some buruacrat feels its an emergency. Aljazeera is sponsored by Islamic radicals.

Look, if your the big dog, people take their aim. For a while, Mike Tyson had every two bit thug challenging him to a fight when he was precieved the best boxer in the world at the time.

Its also jealousy, People feel better to criticize others who are better, more famous, smarter ect. It makes them feel better, like they matter. If America wasn't number one, and Australia was, countries would criticize Australia.
Why do they lean left, Its because the left is already critical of our own sucess, its easier to just side with those critical voices than to voice new critcisims.

Sucess comes in a prickly package.

Just for a different perspective, I'm Canadian and I don't hate America. I have actually traveled to America numerous times and most Americans I have met have been very nice people. I do get all my news from Canadian and American sources because both are readily available where I live and I have nothing nice to say about the Bush administration, and it's because every time they do something it's usually corrupt of illegal.

As for the difference in Canadian news and American news, there is quite a difference. (I can't speak for BBC and Aljazeera though because I never watch it) Canadian news generally has less bias, my favourite Canadian news source is CBC which is government funded (I would like to remind all my American friends out there that our current federal government is Conservative who are currently doing everything they can within their power to make Canada U.S. Jr.) and makes a major effort to be non-biased, CTV my other favourite national news source leans a little to the left and my local newspaper leans to the right because I come from a small city in the middle of the prairies and it's a pretty conservative area. But even with these slight biases our news is accurate, and complete. Too often when I watch American news they have a very heavy bias, it's as though fox isn't allowed to say anything complementary about the Democrats or CNN isn't ever allowed to ever agree with the Republicans. They only ever give half the story and they care way more about Paris Hilton's brief stint behind bars than they did Dick Cheney declaring himself a separate branch.

If we are complaining about Americans, I can promise you it's your government and it's because we are getting the whole story and know exactly what's going on. Not just some fragment of the truth which is what you are getting.

Last I checked, BBC, Al Jazeera and Canada TV are not US media. It's anti-US media that is (obviously) damaging America's image in the eyes of the world. When you turn on the TV, and another car bomb exploding killing 25.. every day for 3 years, yeah it might make the US look bad. But remember: it's the Iraqis, terrorists, Al Qaeda, etc... that are doing this.

The same things were going on Vietnam as far as anti-US propaganda is concerned. Don't believe the hype. Come here and see what a "terrible nation" we are.

TG, the media is SUPPOSED TO BE a government watch dog, but guess what, they haven't been that since BUSH took office. When CNN was embedded in Iraq in the first days, why weren't they asking the government the hard questions, like where in hell are the weapons of mass destruction, cuz they aren't here. But I heard nothing of the sort out of CNN, all I saw was a story slanted to make our soldiers appear like icons of bravery, and isn't war a magnificent effort to relieve these poor dum slobs of Saddam Hussein, who was assisted into office by our government anyway......NBC, CBS, ABC none of them demanded answers from the government either....they just keep putting libelous slants on the truth to make pablum that is acceptable to the public.
And then there are the entertainment shows these so called watchdogs choose to air.....IF I were a poor farmer in Cambodia, or Ethiopia and watched my 30 year old black and white tv and saw the conspicuous consumption on these shows that came from america, the stupidity regularly displayed.....I'd be enraged that one country could live like we supposedly do while the world starves.....not that we do, but that is how we are portrayed by this so called watchdog. This so called protector of free speech, this media that is only interested in getting it's peice before the pie is destroyed. YES, THE MEDIA IS INDEED DESTROYING THE REPUTATION OF OUR COUNTRY, YES BUSH IS DRIVING US TO THE BRINK, YES, WE WILL FADE INTO THE NIGHT WITHOUT A WHIMPER UNLESS ALL AMERICANS EVERYWHERE REBEL.

The media is simply playing to it's audience looking for ratings as usual. controversy sells. the latest is hate the U.S.

No, the media in the U.S (except FOX) is just telling the truth. Most people in the world still like and respect most Americans as people but they hate what president Bush and his administration has done to the country and it is all because of him that so much of the world has lost respect for our nation.

On the contrary. The US media is reporting what millions of Americans are saying. The media are supposed to be the watchdogs of the government, not a public relations operation. The best thing they can do for America is to reveal the wrongdoing of the uS government so that people around the world will see that we can make changes and correct our mistakes.

the US is nowhere near the top of 1st world countries. What are we the top in? Military power. Prisoners. Crime rate.

Look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, DC and see who is in residence. Then you will have the answer to why people in other countries hate the US right now. That person has done more harm to our reputation as a country than anyone in the political arena has since Jefferson Davis and maybe even Davis couldn't hold a candle to him when it comes to damage to the US.

The U.S media is very conservative and corporate. Yes, they are killing democracy and free speech here in the U.S and they are a sorry excuse for 'news' sources in the U.S. They are supposed to bring the populace information and ask questions of our Sorry to inform you but verbal attacks and criticism will not kill America. Even the attack on 911 will not kill America. But lack of democratically elected political leaders who raid the treasury for the war profiteers and oil corporations and who are very secretive and bring us to war based on all lies will hurt our country alot more.
