Probably for the same reasons that most people enjoy bland foods instead of Cajun hot. Now, when it comes to music, most of us don't like to be challenged. We take comfort in being spoon-fed easy-listening crap. We tend to get on all fours and beg for more. Modern radio is the ultimate villain as their play-lists are dictated by advertising dollars. Sad truth is that the masses simply don't make an attempt to dig a little deeper to listen to good rock. Besides making horrible music, Dave Matthew's tour bus polluted the Chicago River with fecal matter. As if poisoning our ears wasn't enough!

Obviously the people who like DMB like their music, and don't think its bad. I like this band b/c I enjoy their songs (not the radio hits, but the real music) and b/c of their ability to preform live. 90% of bands go out and play the same songs every night, finishing with all of their major radio hits, while people sit through all the other songs in the first half of their show. DMB changes things up every night, I have seen them 4 times, each show with a completely different setlist. In fact their is only one song that I have seen at 3 shows (and even that one isn't a radio hit), and no songs they have played all 4 times I have seen them.

I enjoy DMB for the music which most people have never heard them play b/c they only know the crap like Space Between and Crash that is always on the radio and their talent and ability at live shows.

Why are you asking a question that is more of a personal opinion than a question? I'm sure there are plenty of bands that you like that other people think suck major @$$. But that's the wonderful thing about music, isn't it? There's something for everybody.

I listen mostly to stuff like Tarja turunen..epica..amberian dawn..tristania..rap and hip hop strike me as something junior high school and some high school teeny boppers listen to...symphonic metal isn t just beautiful,it requires precise timing and most of the vocalist are women and have operatic voices.real talent as opposed to 50 cent...look up tarja turunen ..read about her on wiki..her home page..

That's really more of a personal opinion, but the idea is more or less universal. I'm a hip-hop fan, but I can't stand how some 'artists' whose work is worthless sell so much.

You go dreamchaser8860.

I'd take eternity with any DMB cd over the AFI and My Chemical Romances of the world ANY DAY.

Because in their opinion it is good. I'm sure you like songs that I think are crap. Just because you or I don't like something doesn't automatically make it bad. We'll actually, just because you don't like it doesn't mean its bad. If I say its bad then it is because I know everything and have perfect taste.
