It's R mostly because of nudity (mostly, if not all, male, as I recall) and language.
You'll have to be the judge as to whether or not your kid can watch it. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't.

It was because of the language and the drug using in the movie that made it an r not the nudity because last i new it wasn't something new for guys to go around shirtless.

There is a lot of nudity in the film and one shower scene in particular with loads of naked men walking around with their members showing that make it completely inappropriate for your daughter to see.

Just checked out that ratings reason sitre, and it has stated language, sexuality/nudity and drug content. That last reason alone should make it clear that you should NOT to take your 13 year old to see this.

Good movie, but like it was already stated, language and nudity (locker room scenes as I can remember).

there are two nudity scenes one where ll cool j snorts some "stuff" off a girls breast and one where pacino is with a call girl.
