How many would like to see a documentary that compares the health care of a US Soldier that returned from Iraq to that of an Iraqi citizen? The US provides better health care to Iraqis than we do to our senior citizens who have worked their entire lives. I don't think that we need socialized medicine but I also don't think that my mother, who worked her entire life and lost her health insurance when my stepfather passed away, should lose her home to pay for health care either. Curious to see other points of view on the subject.

I love to that. Americans need to see exactly just how our current government treats its soldiers that have given the most for absolutely nothing in return.

You mean like how most Universal Healthcare Hospitals, Doctors, Nurses, and Equipment is all sub par? Or you do mean the tremendous wait times for any medical care that is not an emergency? Yes Universal Health Care is free, such as Britain and Canada, but if you have an outpatient surgery, or need something simple like fitted for eye glasses, your wait time will be overwhelming. Personal friend from Britain needed a Kidney surgery, but had to go in pain for 3 months for an outpatient appointment. Also his mother died soon before his appointment and he asked about changing his appointment day to a few days after, and they absolutely refused, and told him he would need to wait an additional month for the earliest appointment. Michael Moore likes to paint a lot of pretty pictures, but fact is he is a crook. You ever seen him donate money from his Documentary's to any families of 9/11, Katrina, Wounded Veterans, or people that cannot afford medical treatment? No. I suggest you check out "Shooting Michael Moore" & "Michael Moore Hates America" Production values are lower, but people that made these have facts, and not money.

We needed to be reminded of what our lack of involvement in our own government has done to this country.

I strongly recommend the movie to those who have not seen it yet. Both parties need to address the issue.

The negative mentality around socialization needs to be removed. Banning together for the common good should not be viewed as a bad thing. (Taking from the movie) Our schools, fire departments, police department, roads, etc are all forms of socialism.

Socialized medicine is the only solution. As long as the health industry is run by for profit organizations, they will be doing nothing but finding ways to increase that profit. The only way they can make a profit, is to take money out of your pocket, and put it into theirs.

Will it cost us more in tax dollars? Yes. But how much does it compare with what it is costing individuals now out of their pocket for insurance? Couple thousand a year per person? Then you must add the medical bills on top of that. In reality, the average american would be spending less per person on medical care, because there are not share holders and corporations making a profit off of other people's misery and suffering.

I have not had the opportunity to see the movie Sicko yet, but I really want to. I have worked in the health care field and it is horrible! It is painful to see that our Senior citizens and young children are not getting the kind of health care they deserve. It is disgusting that the Iraqi prisoners are getting better care than the U.S. taxpayers and I do believe that something needs to be done about that. If we do not want socialized health care than we need to talk to our Congressmen and Senators and tell them to pass a bill limiting the cost of health care. We need to find a way to stick it to the insurance companies who are dictating the care we get (they are I have seen it).

I would love to see the documentary, but I can't imagine being surprised by anything in it. We have excellent medical care for those who can pay for it. And people please don't start yelling about how great this country is and blah blah blah- I love this country, LOVE it. But I can look at the reality of the health care available to those who need it- particularly veterans, senior citizens, and children. In Texas, 31% of adults are uninsured and 20% of children are uninsured- when anyone in this population is injured or sick, it takes a toll on the entire community, and until we can address this issue on the national and state level, we will see the cyclical problems of illness, unemployment, and poverty continue.

Hmm, the girl in Iraq that had both her legs blown off and was brought to the US, given prosthetics and rehabilitated. By private citizens. I'm guessing that she would have just been allowed to be stumps in Iraq. Not sure but I'm willing to bet.

The US solider the other day on the news that had RECONSTRUCTED legs after having holes blown in them--paid for by the US. And countless other stories I know of personally including a man who had half his face blown off in Iraq and surgically reconstructed.

We have Medicare. I guess she should take some of her Social Security and pay for insurance to cover the rest of the costs. That's all money from the government.

I'd watch it and tell others about it. It's crazy that we send over all this foreign aid to people who hate us and let our own people suffer. I also don't want socialized medicine. I think that's what they have in Canada? I work in a doctor's office and we have recently had people from Canada come down to our office because they have been on waiting lists for almost two years there for our kind of speciality. So they come here and pay out of pocket.

Farenheit 911 documented the situation already, and it took three years after that film was released before anything was done, and then it only addressed one hospital on the east coast, so another documentary film will not likely have much effect.
As long as our government fat cats keep giving themselves raises, life long pensions and free health benefits for life, and then give whatever remains to illegal immigrants and imprisoned iraqis, nothing is going to change except that the people of america will go broke and die uncared for. But hell, why should our government fat cats worry, they GOT THEIRS DIDN'T THEY?

the number one reason for bankruptcy in America is medical bills, we need to make a change in our medical system. We are supposed to be the best country in the world, so why can't we have the best of both worlds? if we took the profit out of the hmo's we could afford it on what we already pay in taxes, why should the HMO's charge 120 dollars for an inhaler that only costs them less than a dollar. how much is to much profit at some point it is gouging and not profit!!

I'm really looking forward to watching Sicko. I think the american public needs to know how things work, how soldiers are entitled to better health care since they do risk their life for us. the elderly really do need better health care, i dont understand how canada has better health care system then us.
