Nope. It's pretty much a big ponzi scheme and those of us who come after the baby boomers are going to feel the squeeze.

Actually, I doubt it will be around much longer, and all the money I've paid into it will have been for nothing. What I am looking forward to is a class action suit against the federal government for wasting our hard earned dollars, for robbing the social security fund to pay for their ridiculous ideas, and to recoup the monies they litterally stole from their own citizens. I think each and every single senator since FDR's time in office should be billed a percentage to pay the people back for thier nonsense spending.

Sure I am since I have paid huge dollars into it. If I had paid a similar amount into my 401K I would be looking at approximately a million dollar net right now. Bush was absolutely correct when he pushed for a phased out Social Security as it is in effect a ponzi scheme which is about to collapse.

YES.
But if I were 20 years old, I would be demanding the phase-out of the Social Security System.
It is a failed political power grab like all Socialist programs.

Yes, I am. If the government takes money out of my paycheck for social security and fails to give me a monthly check when I retire, not only will I be angry, I think they call that fraud!

No way. I am 24 years old- I can't imagine looking forward to a safe an secure retirement that I didn't build for myself... But then again I am a smoker, so, you know...

No, I'm counting on the gov't to let me take care of my own retirement and get their hands out of my pocket. How is it legal for the government to force us to use their "retirement plan" when there's proof that it just doesn't work?

my advise to all is it was a nice thing back in the depression days (have you heard of that time) and to look forward to it is a nice thought BUT you would be better to save some of your paycheck and put it in a money market when you are young, i promise you it will do better for you in 20 years and you will never have to Reilly on any thing or anyone in 20 years. ang
