Go to the public library and check out James Herriot. He wrote a fantastic series of funny animal stories based on his experience as a country vet in the yorkshire dales.
I've read all of his books, he even has cat stories, dog stories, etc. He's been a vet for over 50 years! You will laugh so much your sides will ache.

Well I'll tell you a story:
One time I with my dog in my backyard then I went to the boat and we were going on a boat ride. So my dog thought we were drowning and he made a hole in the grass and swam to us trying to rescue us.
