A good list, for sure. I think I'd put Claypool higher, though.

I need to add Entwistle, McCartney and Lesh. Entwistle for combining the creative use of electronics with his musical talent. McCartney for making the bass the most important thing in the mix and Lesh for pioneering melodic departures from the root of the chord.

That means 3 of yours have to go, so I'd take out Novoselic, Burton and I guess Flea. Not easy to stick to 5.

Help me understand why you chose #s 2 and 4. Collins is a no-brainer.
