Hi, I am an alternative healer.
I recently had symptoms of IBS that lasted about a month or more. I was totally bloated for sometimes days at a time and was constantly belching. I always had a nervous sensation in my solar plexus.
What healed me was getting down to the nitty gritty of what is going on in my life that is a problem for me. Being honest with myself and changing my behavior.
The stomach is located in the solar plexus chakra, the chakra of your own will, inner power, and self-esteem. I discovered that I had codependent issues that were taking away my inner power. I was giving away too much of myself energetically. This was also causing me to have low self-esteem.
My healer gave me the book "Codependent No More". Since facing this problem in myself about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I have not had any more symptoms of IBS!! You might want to look deeper for your answers - the chakras you should look at would be the solar plexus, the sacral and the root chakras. There are tons of websites that give info on the chakras, just do a simple search.
Also, I fasted for a couple of days, meditated daily, and followed the ayurvedic guidelines for my dosha and imbalance. These can be found out an banyanbotanicals.com. They have free tests and information. You can also seek out an alternative healer to help guide you, such as Reiki Masters, Ayurveda Practicioners, etc..
Be well

One very gentle and calming remedy is kuzu or kudzu root. You can buy it in the macrobiotic or Japanese foods sections of most healthfood stores. Add 1 Tablespoon to 2c. of water or apple juice and stir until dissolved. Put this liquid into a saucepan and heat until it thickens to the consistency of a pudding. Do NOT boil the water first and then add the lumps of kuzu, or you will end up with a lumpy, inedible mess. Cool it enough to eat it and then eat it. This remedy also can be/is traditionally prepared with shoyu or tamari (high quality soy sauce) and some grated ginger, =/- 1 tsp., if you are more inclined to desire salty/spicy remedies, rather than sweet or sour (were you to use a green apple). Kudzu starch is extremely soothing to the stomach and intestines. You cannot overdose on this, so make as many times as you like.
IBS is usually about immense food allergies and very poor food combining as well as the person being extremely sensitive and extremely nervous/anxious.
My intuition says you should look at supplementing your diet with enzymes as well.

You might want to start with the herb slippery elm. It is very soothing to the digestive system.
You might use it for a week or two to soothe and heal your irritated intestines. I'd take it two or three times a day.
While doing that, I'd take a liquid multivitamin such as Miracle 2000. And PB-8 or some other really excellent probiotic.
After a few days, add IntestiNew. This is another soothing product that reduces bloating, etc.
Next, continue with the PB-8 and add olive leaf extract to get any yeast overgrowth under control. (If you have IBS, it's guaranteed that you have yeast overgrowth.)
You'll probably need to add a good multi-enzyme product as well. This will reduce gas and bloating as well.
Good luck.

There are a few theories as to what causes IBS.
One of the culprits is stress. Wonder if you address your situation with Bacopa and Bael fruit, some studies showed good results.
You may consider total body cleanse at first( liver, colon, blood, lymph, kidney and colon) under supervision of the holistic practitioner or MD who understands the natural approach.
You may try turmeric for the inflammation, grapefruit extract artichoke and probiotics if you have spasms add lemon balm to your tea. DiarCare herbal formula is very soothing to the colon if the IBS underlying cause are bacteria and parasites. Dr. Andrew Weil recommends Triphala three herbs formula for IBS.
Talk to a good nutritional consultant in your area what to eat and how to eat.

Pineapple might help as the core contains the enzyme bromelain which is very good for the digestive system.
Chlorophyll and barley grass (also known as green barley) are also very good for the digestive system.

I find that taking a calcium supplement helps me. It's not a miracle cure, but it helps. Eating Cheerios also seems to help. I don't know why just Cheerios, but that is what works best for me.

Every time you eat...you get diarrhea? Wow, I want IBS! I have to FORCE myself to eat carbohydrates to take a sh!ti (turn the "!" and "i" upside down)
I try to stay away from white flour to lose weight. Bread, spaghetti, rice, cakes...Flour retains water, right?
