to let me get a tattoo, I'll be 17 next month and my daddy said that he'll take me ((with my mom's permission)). My mom has like 6 tattoos and won't let me get one! I know I'm under the age but my step-dad ((who absolutley HATES tattoos)) said that I should be able to get one in a spot that's easy to hid ((like i want to get, either on my neck or hipbones)). He says since on August 7 I'll be 6 months sober ((YAY ME! ^_^)) and my birthday is August 12, that my mom should let me get one as long as it's not anything stupid. I just don't know what to say to her so she lets me get one. I want to get a Japanese Symbol on the back of my neck of my last name or 2 doves on my hips with little ribbons, one saying honor and the other saying respect. I also took my lip ring on because she didn't like ((but she let me get it anyways)) I've tried a lot I'm just out of ideas of how to talk to her because she gets really pissy if I bring it up and calls me a liar when i say my stepdad agrees with me.

ouch. they hurt. and they hurt even more if you want to take them away. But it doesn't sound like you do. Get your step-dad to tell her that he thinks you can get one now. Then she will know and she may consider. gd luck xxx

also: if you are going to get one of the two, I would get the one on your hips because thats easier to hide. Unless you always have your hair (if you have long hair) down.

hip-bone good, neck bad. our society looks down on people with neck tattoos and you will have a very hard time getting a job. the reason you mom wont let you get one is because she got them young and regrets them. now- legally you should not be getting a tattoo till you are 18 it is against the law with or without permission from a parent. you need to make sure you are getting something you really want that you have thought about for a long time because you cant just wash it off.wait till you are 18 because then you dont need permission and you can have something to do so you can celebrate actually being legal!

I say wait until you're older and more sure of what you want on you forever but I just have to add that the comment about not being able to have a c-section because of a back tattoo is absolutely ridiculous! I got mine at 18 and have had 3 c-sections since then. I also have one on my abdomen I had before all of them as well...In no way does ink in your skin affect that.

If you don't like her rules, leave. Simple. If she is supporting you, then you have to listen to her. Maybe she realized that she messed up somewhere down the road (you having had a drinking problem) and she's trying to rectify it. This is something that you don't want to hear, but it's my opinion. Being 17 and being "6 months sober" is not a good thing. maybe you're turning your life around, but trying to convice your mother of letting you get a tatto soesn't sound mature. She has tatoos, maybe you should trust her judgement.

If you really want the tattoo, it won't hurt you to wait until you are 18. I also have tattoos and I worry about my kids getting them. I will want them to wait until they are at least 18. I don't plan to give them permission before that. I just don't want them to rush into getting one and then regret it later. And I would definitely get it on your hip, not your neck. Especially if it is your first tat.

If it is that important for you to get a tatoo, just wait until your 18. I know it's hard to wait for something your really want, but sometimes we act on impulse and regret it down the road. Your mom probably doesn't want to be responsable for your tatoo if you end up regretting it.

Why do you want to alter the body that ALLAH(SWT) made for you? Tattoos are trashy looking. You'll probably get it burned off when your in your mid 20s anyway. That's what most people do when they get a tattoo in their teens. It will cost a lot of money to get a tattoo done. Like $1,000 or more depending on what type of tattoo your thinking of getting.

i say just wait til your 18 ask your rents to pay for it...that's what my dad did i asked for a tattoo since i was like 14 and he finally said yes if i could pay for it but if i waited til i was 18 he would and he did
i just think your mom wants your to fully understand what your getting yourself into mine hurt like HELL!!! and from the time i was 16 til the time i was 18 when i got it done my idea changed about 1000000 times....and now i still kinda wish i would have changed it just cuz she has tattoos doesn't make it right they want you to understand that

You probably won't want it. When you start getting wrinkles and as a teenager thought it would be cool to get a tattoo that says,"I'm hot!" won't be so hot.
