Ok who do you think the best player on the Sox is?

Best player so far: Beckett, with his hot start.
Both Okajima and Papelbon have anchored the bullpen.
Lowell is finally back to the guy I thought the Sox were getting from the Marlins.
Youkilis is everything I thought he'd be coming from Pawtucket. Great bat, sure glove.
Pleasant surprises include Tavarez holding down the 5th spot, Gabbard filling in for Schilling.
Still waiting on Matsuzaka to become lights out. Ortiz is playing hurt and it's showing. Manny is also suffering from an acute power outage. If Crisp can stay off the DL, he'd be something. Maybe Lugo's learning curve ends here and he has a monster 2nd half.

so far this year, i think it has been Mike Lowell. Manny isn't being as Manny as in years past. Ortiz is a little hobbled by a knee injury, and it's sort of showing. Could look at the pitchers and say Beckett or Papalbon, but with a question like this one I usually look at position players first.

This year? Kevin Youkilus, with Josh Beckett a very, VERY close second. Okajima comes in at #3, Lowell at #4, and even though he's having a down year, Ortiz is 5th. I'm a Yankee fan, so it's just my opinion. The answer could be something very different from everyone else's.

So far this year the best have been lowell and youk-hopefully manny and ortiz will start being outstanding soon.
