Definitely Barry Bonds. This guy is constantly in sports news whether it is for outstanding sports performances or for major controversy. He is probably the only player I know of that is in the highlights when he goes 0 for 4. I have even seen his name on the bottom of the sports ticker on ESPN that says Bonds: DNP. Just for not playing he creates news. Whether you like him or not you have to admit he is the most now athlete out there. He is about to break the all-time home run record which many thought would never be broken.
Gordon certainly is the most dominating driver in NASCAR. There has been other drivers who have had success as well as Gordon has. A big reason for his success has been his team. They have pretty much everything figured out which gives their drivers an advantage.
I would absolutely have to say Barry Bonds even though I am not a big fan of his.

That's tough! I'd say Jeff Gordon because he is still in his prime. The matchup is "Who's NOW", not "Who was THEN".
There is a lot of controversy and negative views surrounding Barry Bonds, whereas Gordon is just disliked for what he does on the track. Otherwise, he is very well liked and respected.

Bonds.. its simple Jeff Gordon is in Nascar and nobody watches nascar; which is why there is no way you can consider him now. But the reaction to Bonds this all star game, positive or negative, shows he is definitely now.

I'll go with Gordon. He has the hot wife, is the face of nascar, leading the points race this year.
I dont see how anyone can call Bonds amazing.

No one is more now than Barry Bonds. I haven't heard a sports conversation where his name wasn't brought up in like 5 years.

I hope ( even thought i'm a JJ fan ) Jeff and Jimmie will push Mark Martin to the front each week so Mark can get his Championship before he retires. Which I really think will be the end of this year.

Bonds - what an absolute galvanizing figure in pro sports, who has the commissioner cowering in a corner, the classy Henry Aaron making caustic remarks, the Feds scratching their heads in frustration, a friend in jail because of - well - being his friend and - through all this - is poised to break one of the greatest records in American athletics. Amazing!
