Unfortunately, he is going to get it. Especially if the Angels fall short this season.
No one on earth deserves $25 million a year, much less $30 a year, unless you own a company that makes that kind of cash. People that saves lives don't make anywhere near that much.
But A-Rod, after he wins the MVP this year, will opt out of his Yankees contract, stick a big middle finger up at NY, and say goodbye.
I find it interesting that he wants to go out west, considering his entire family lives in Miami. But the Angels, Giants, WhiteSox, and probably the RedSox will get into that bidding war.
But $30 million is way too much...for anyone.

His market value is exactly equal to what someone is willing to pay him. You might have a problem getting someone to pay you $30 million per year but A-Rod may not. It really all comes down to supply and demand. When there is limited resources and high demand the value is driven up. Right now there is a lot of pressure on some of these teams to win and there are not many players, if any, that can do what A-Rod can do. The end result is a lot of value for A-Rod.

maybe. statistically, ARod is one of the greatest baseball players ever seen, probably top 5 all time at least. Answer this question, do you think the Yankees of today would pay 30 mil for Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle to keep them? If you think no you are on crack. ARod is at the very least in their caliber if not better then Mantle.
He can get that kind of contract because quite simply, he is that good.

That would be a bad move for Anaheim.
They have two choices, raise their payroll substantially (which will cost the people who support the team money) or they will have to eliminate money from other people.
Would you rather had Arod, or 2 Guerreros?
I would go for double Vlad
Would you rather had Arod, or 4 John Lackeys?
Yah, I am not taking Arod there.
Anyway you split it, a sum of the combinations of players to get to the salary of one will always work in favour of the multiple players.
If they have that much money to spend, stay status quo and ask for a reduction on tickets and merchandise.
Also, I have cursed Arod, he won't win a world series.

No. he may hit 50 HRs and 100+ RBI but in my eyes and Managers eyes hitters like Derek Jeter are worth more. He is a clutch hitter. When was the last time A Rod hit above 250 in the play offs.

A-rod in my book is only worth 15 million. Thats what most players who only perform in the regular season get so why should he get anymore. When October comes around his bat falls asleep and who knows if he will even get the chance to prove he can perform in the post season this year.

If a club owner is willing to put such a contract on the table, then I guess he is worth every cent. Owners don't pay what fans feel are exorbitant salaries unless they have the resources to do so.
