there is no set age in many states. the average range is 12 or 13 but if you are immature for 13 your parents could still be arrested for leaving you alone.

Actually, most States do not have regulations or laws about when a child is considered old enough to care for him/herself or to care for other children. I know in New Brunswick, the Family Services Act says you cannot be left home alone under the age of 12 therefore you cant babysit. Also, most babysitting courses dont allow children under the age of 12 to participate.

If you're wondering what the legal age is, it would depend on the government you're speaking of, as that varies from place to place. Here in the U.S., you're considered an adult at whatever age is determined to be the legal age in the area you're living. Where I reside, the legal age is 19. The legal age is not necessarily the same as the maturity age, however. Some young people are mature at 15; others at 21. Personally, I've know some people who are never considered mature, but that's another story.

I have a 13 year old ,and a 11 year old . I would never leave them alone in my house , I'd be afraid they would burn my house down..lol they are not bad kids , don't get me wrong but when an adult is not around Kids like to explore....I remember when I was growing up.

I believe it varies from state to state. I know in ny state you have to be twelve to be left home alone or to babysit your own brothers and sisters. To babysit other kids it's 14. Many states require a child to be 14 before they can be left home alone
