I understand that illegal immigration is complex, but it is not as complex as the politicians in Washington want to make it appear. We support legal immigration. We oppose illegal immigration. To call those who oppose amnesty and illegal immigration bigots is beyond ridiculous! And if they cannot understand that, we need some new leaders in Washington. I think congress is trying to make this more complicated than it is to divide us further..........but I think both sides will hold firm-thoughts?

Of course it is. If every other country in the world can protect its borders, the US of A certainly can. They choose not to. Our government is terrific at CREATING crisis for political gain.

Sometimes they make it complex in an attempt to confuse and not us allow the true intentions of the legislation. The disaster of a 300 page bill that was thrown out there by the Democratic leadership and the Republicans like McCain who supported this new fangled amnesty without allowing real debate shows that confusion and time pressures were to make sure that maybe the Talk Radio and Internet revolt could not stop the last ditch effort as they had all the other attempts. If you go back to the amnesty bill from the 80's that led us to have 25 million more illegals today than the safe and secure borders and a return to normal immigration processes you will see it was a hodgepodge bill that most never saw the full implications of. So they want the immigration but they expect us to remain stupid and not know what is being passed until its too late. Then in 20 years we will have the same problems with immigration, unsecured borders, and 90 million illegals that the Congress of that era can rush another bill through. We must stand up and ensure that real legislation is put through that formally addresses illegal immigration and border security/national security that addresses this issue today and into the future.

This whole issue is purely political. Look at when Congress first brought it up. It was early in the 2006 Congressional campaign.
While the majority in this country a against illegal immigration, there are a lot businesses that depend on illegal immigrants for cheap labor. Those are the people pushing for "guest workers" (amnesty). Those are also the people who donate to both parties. The solution to the whole problem would be to strengthen and enforce the existing laws requiring employers to verify the legality of the people they hire and strict penalties for hiring illegals. These employers are also breaking the law. They should lose their business license on the second offense. You won't even see this solution discussed and that shows who is controlling the debate.

If they were interested in immigration, they would all get together and decide on how to secure the borders first, THEN discuss what to do about illegals here in the country. But no, they don't want to make this a priority first and foremost, which is funny because the majority of Americans agree on this issue.

This is a perplexing issue. Obviously the socialists are just looking for votes, and I think seeing that some of the more stupid republicans think the same way.

The one that confuses me most is bush, what is it with this new north america nation? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he is doing this so we will be the largest and richest country in the world, larger than we are today, by forming up with Mexico and Canada, the idea being that the UN can go pound sand at that point.

The ones who want the NWO through the UN is hill and bill. slick willie is going to go for Secy Gen if hillary gets elected, then she can begin to turn over America to the UN, this is your real NWO.

Immigration is not complex. Its pure politics. Nobody wants to do a damn thing about it! In Washington anyway. You can stop immigration tomorrow WITHOUT a fence! Stop the hiring of illegals!!! DONE!!! Stop the mortgages, the jobs, the insurance, etc. The average American is a pawn in this game, a global game. Please wake up and see the light!

That is one reason a Republican will win in 08. The liberals are much too soft on illegal immigration. This issue affects ALL Americans. In fact, it probably harms minorities MORE, because it is not fair for all of the LEGAL immigrants who have spent the time and money going through the correct process.

It is disgusting how liberals smear those who simply want the laws enforced. Illegal means NOT LEGAL. They are breaking a law, and should not be rewarded. Period.

Immigration as an issue is a diversion to distract us from the real issue of health care.

It does not matter if you are for or against the amnesty, what matters is that you think about immigration and ignore the health care issue.
