How much beauty and good figure contributes in sucess of women?

How come on all positon most the women are beautiful? More over female singer get hit only if they are sexy.

It depends on the field, and even then the success that comes from a woman's physical beauty is a double-edged sword.

Women in entertainment and other highly visible fields are not only encouraged to be physically attractive, it's basically demanded in their job descriptions. Even in other fields, beauty can be a major advantage, as studies have shown that a beautiful person is more likely to get a job than a supposedly non-attractive person with the same experience and background.

Still, beauty isn't the answer to it all, even for those who reap the benefits of having a pretty face. Women are taught that they must maintain a beautiful and attractive appearance, but they are also scolded for it. Women who are considered attractive, or who are clearly trying to be attractive, are derided as unprofessional whores who don't belong.

It's an unfortunate situation, and for women there really is no way to totally win. You're basically damned if you do, damned if you don't.

It's a fact of life that if an employer had a hot good looking knock you dead woman who was unqualified for a job opening and an average looking woman who had the skills for that same job opening the employer would hire the hot looking woman even if she sucked at the job. The hotter the woman is the more she gets paid which is sad but that is the way it is in the USA. Yeah I agree women place too much into how they look and the clothes and makeup they wear just to land a spot as a model or a singer.

However, when a woman moves into professional careers like being a Teacher, Real Estate Agent, Financial planner, Computer Technician there is an inverse relationship with looks. It seems that the uglier the woman is in the professional field the more trust she gets.

Tyra had models dress for three different jobs and get a study group to say who they trusted most. So, Tyra dressed up someone in "Entertainment" cloths and had them be judged for an Entertainment position, Financial Planner, and Politician. Each time, the real professionals (who are not modles) won the positions for Financial Planner, and Politicain.

Very true. Many of the young female pop singers have no musical talent, but they are quite good at showing skin. I am a molecular biologist, and I do get treated better than plainer women in the department. However, there are also drawbacks....other scientists assume I am dumb because I am pretty. That is annoying also.

Because people dont pay money to see some fat slob get up on stage. When people start paying for it, I can gaurantee that you will see it, because capitalism is consumer driven.

Whether its fair or not it happens, and the smart and ambitous women will take advantage of that fact. Which is perfectly okay. Men use sports as a "the ole boys club" so I see no reason for women to use anything (short of blatant sexual alure) to advance themselves.

I think appearance plays a big role in anything we do in society. You won't be taken seriously if you don't look put-together. As far as beauty and figure, unfortunately in some cases you have to work harder to prove things if you are not thin or beautiful. It can also work in reverse and you may not be taken seriously if you are beautiful or have a great figure.

I agree with steph, and have to add that the more attractive a person is the more successful they tend to be. The reason being is people are more trusting of those blessed with good looks. Look at Ted bundy.
