I'm going to be doing two trips in a non cdl truck (23k lbs.) and I have a class c license(max 26k lbs.)Both trips are 800 miles. My question is do I need a log book?Do I need a cdl even though I have the proper weight class license for the truck I will be driving?Any other helpful info would be appreciated.

PEACE:

If it is a truck that is under a certain gross vehicle weight and does not have airbrakes, then you don't need a CDL. If you are not driving a "CDL truck" (commercial vehicle) then the the DOT is not going to pull you over, nor do you need to stop at the weigh stations along the way. So, why would you need a log book?

No you do not need cdl. But you do have to fill out log book if trip is over 100 miles long one way

Are you doing this for personal reasons? like moving? or are you doing it as a business? If for commercial reasons, then yes, you need a cdl. But to be certain, contact the department of transportation or the state police near you.
