it locks and unlocks with the key it just wont release the lock when you push it to open.the car doesnt have fold down seats,so i am at a loss to see how i can gain entry.

Looks like you're in a bit of a jam. One of the linkages of your lock probably popped off. This happened on my E36 318ti, but in my case, I have fold down seats, and it's a hatchback.

Try removing the boot handle trim (the black plastic) and see if you can somehow see some of the linkages. I believe it unscrews from 2 screws below it near the number plate lights.

If there's no way out, try the dealer.

You're basically doing the equivalent of trying to break in to your boot from the outside - which is going to be tough.

u need to, from inside the boot, take the plastic fairing off the inside of the boot lid and look at the mechanism. there could be something loose or you could open it from inside

REMOVE REAR NUMBER PLATE . MEASURE 7 INCHES ACROSS FROM BOOT LOCK DRILL HOLE . YOU SHOULD SEE BOOT OPERATING RODS . USE SMALL SCREWDRIVER TO PUSH ROD UPWARDS

have you tried taking the rear seat completely out? sometimes it works and you may be lucky.....even if you have to cut a hole....
