Yes its true that Ichiro can speak perfect english but he choose to speak in Japanese cuz of the huge Japanese fan base he has so why say everything twice just say it once and have the translator repeat it...and as for Guerrero, no he can not speak english. When he came he they isolated him from the rest of the world and gave him a house up in the mountains...you may laugh but its true. And he just never picked up the language.

Both speak English well. Ichiro will use an interpreter at times because he does not want to make a mistake on interpretation, for some of the finer points, but he does speak and understand English. Guerrero has no problems at all.

yes, both can speak English but they bring out translators during interview because they don't want to be caught with a tough question. Better safe than sorry

I agree. I think that Ichiro needs to learn Spanish. Spanish is the official language of US now, isn't it? In California every language BUT English is spoken...

i heard on espn, that both can speak english, but refuse to speak it b/c of some unknown reason and they prefer to use an interperter prob because they don t have perfect english or are used to an interperter.

was your last word(s) supposed to be pourquoi? (French for why)
Good try anyway.
I will throw this at ya.
If Guerrero could speak broken english, like say, Amercian born NBA stars (or Rap artists), do you think it's reasonable that people would be all over the internet criticizing his English?
If so, then perhaps that reason, along with comfort would be the reason he chooses to speak Spanish.
I have also heard that Suzuki speaks English, so perhaps you are right on that note.

Guerrero can speak it but probably not fluently. He should have learned it.
