I have read that it is a simlar level of pain? Is that true?

I have had gallstones and while they hurt VERY bad, and I could not get comfortable in any position, they were not unbearable, well OK they felt like they were, but I did bear them!

If having a baby is like that I might be able to really honestly consider natural childbirth...

I've never had gallstones, but I've had four children with no pain medication. I've had lots of things that hurt worse than labor; like arthritis, leg cramps, a rough period, and even some hunger pains. I used the Bradley method, which uses relaxation to prevent the uterus from cramping. Labor felt nothing like cramps. It felt like the pain you get when you hold your mouth open as wide as you can for several minutes. It is an aching, stretching feeling, but it is not constant; it comes and goes. Crowning really hurts, but it is only for a couple of minutes.

I don't know, I never had gallstones. But I have been through childbirth twice. Once with an epidural and once without and let me tell you what, that was the worst pain I have ever felt. I have had surgery and stuff like that, but nothing compares to childbirth, but you forget all about the pain once you have your baby in your arms. With this birth I will have a epidural again!

I have 4 children. During my second pregnancy I had passed 3 kidney stones all from 10-11mm which is actually quite large the doctor said, and the kidney stone pain was so much worse than childbirth, just because nothing helped the pain and it was constant for hours. For childbirth it is like waves of pain not constant pain, and you know at the end you will be rewarded with your baby. (Especially for my first stone I did not know what it was so it was scary and I had to be in the hospital for tests and I passed the first one there so we then knew what the pain was from, then I had to have an MRI even though I was pregnant since a week later the doctor was afraid I was blocked since I was not peeing much and there was still blood in it.) I had epidurals for all 4 labors-it is so worth it though!!

This doesn't sound like gallstones. When i had them, i was in a LOT of pain. It started with just feeling tired and having stomach aches, and then back aches... and then one day I had a full blown attack. Your gallbladder helps break down fats, so if you eat fatty foods and don't feel in quite a bit of pain, you probably don't have gallstones. My attacks sent me to the hospital, and then I got my gallbladder out...

I don't know about gallstones, but it did feel like a watermelon. Yes it hurt, you can't get comfortable, but it is completely worth it and as much pain as you go through you will forget about it soon afterwards.

i'm not sure, i've never had either. but i'm considering a natural birth for this one. a water birth, actually, is what i REALLY want to do! childbirth is natural, women did it for millenia before epidurals; the pain is bearable and normal, not like the pain of illness or injury. and there's no risk to the baby by NOT taking pain medicine (all pain meds have side effects and risks). i think i have a high pain tolerance, personally (i dealt with 2nd degree burns on 25% of my body with no pain meds except regular doses of ibuprofen). i think it's best for the baby to go naturally... i like the Bradley Method.

For some. Ive had kidney stones and that was NOTHIGN like bearing my children. Childbirth apparently is "bearable" as well lol we live through it even when NOT medicated.
