You can call me black, I do not mind. I am of darker skin tone, which is black compared to your fair skin. I do not see that as being racist. I have heard worse.

What do you mean? You CAN call a black person black. Most black people I know prefer that over the euphemisms like African-American or whatever, and I'm white. I call black people black all the time, and I've never had any of them correct me. A good rule of thumb for anyone is to ask them what they prefer to be called. And if you prefer to be called European, then let it be known!

Who said you can't call a black person black? Being black is a race and being African- American is an ethnicity. It depends on what you were talking about when someone said you can't call them black. Were you talking about their skin color or their particular heritage? The same goes for if I was from the UK and I was a descendant from Africa, I wouldn't be African- American would I?

Who says you can't call someone black? I am white, I don't want to be called European, because I'm not. I'm an American and my skin is white. Why be so petty?

In my experience, you CAN call them black. It certainly makes more sense than "African American" because not all blacks are from African decent. I have black friends that prefer black to anything else.

It's because of all the racism going on. If you call a black person black they'll think you're racist since a lot of people are racist against blacks more then any race.

You CAN call a person black, they shouldn't take it offensively. Plus you don't know whether they are african, jamaican, etc. (some people look "black" although they aren't)
